What, No Reaction?????
So the Opry broadcast this past weekend was the best I have seen for a long time, especially from a steelers point of view, Tommy just knocked one out of the park with Vince G, and Joe Nichols was great too, with a big long break by Terry Crisp (who Joe announced before the brak, very classy) on Farewell Party. I must of missed the thread, but it seems funny with how much griping about how bad it is (which is completly warranted), that when the show is trad and steel is featured there is no mention. Maybe everyone has just stopped watching????
But Man, Tommy.....whhheeeewwwww!!!
thats some scary a#$ s#$t!!!!!!!

I guess you're about right! On Feb. 14, I switched from Cable to Dish~Network and they don't even carry GAC! However, I did just 'happen to listen' to Radio (Opry) for a change and heard what you saw last Sat.! That's not a regular occurance either!

The reason for not watching it is that the content still skews toward non-traditional pop more often than lots of us have a taste for. I have no interest in the next Shania, I actually find that stuff distasteful. So CMT and GAC are off the list for me. I do enjoy some of the specials, I go to the websites to see if someone is running a show about one of the artists I like to listen to.

Jesse is right,
Tommy and Terry were great.
I absolutely love the mid chorus modulation from E the F# during Terry's solo on "Farwell Party"(gave me goose bumps).
I could have done without the over dramatic hand waving screamer chick.
Also, I think Loretta's band should not do the "Portland Oregon" song on stage(that was a rough one). The first verse sounded like three deferent bands playing at once.
Other than that it was about the best Opry TV broadcast in a long while.
By the way, someone did bring it up the show under Steel Players the other day.

Did anyone notice who Vince's backup band was? I'm positive the keyboard player was John Hobbs and the bass was Michael Rhodes, and I think the drummer was Eddie Bayers (not positive). At any rate these guys are "The Players" (minus Brent Mason and Paul Franklin). Combine them with Tommy White, and it's no wonder the sound was outstanding!!!!
