I gotta wonder, what is the sound of a "hit song" nowadays? The market is so huge and fragmented. What could songs by Nora Jones and Britany Spears possibly have in common, that could be detected by "mathematical analysis"?

This is just a Tendency Program ...

I coached High School football for many years ... and I remember when they first came out.

An assistant coach we had ... was big on these ... the rest of us were initially "leary".

We'd spend hours running film (later video) back and forth ... plus sending a coach to "scout" the next weeks opponents ... blah, blah, blah.

Then the "new guy" started running his tendency program at home ... and bringing the breakdowns to Sunday nite meetings ...

It was amazing ... not only did it "jive" with our "live" analysis ... but it caught a slew of things we all missed.

I know the ol' sayin' ... "Its art/music ... not a competition" ...

But art/music use physical mediums (light, air, etc) ... which are goverened by physics and mathematics.

Can't get away from them numbers ... Image

With all that information on how to write a hit Song, I belive if I was them, I'd use it myself and write me a bunch of Million Sellers. Image

I suspect that the main thing their "mathematical analysis" determined was that they could separate morons from their hard-earned $49.99 with a scientistic* website. There are a whole slew of books with variations on the theme "How to Write a Best-Selling Novel", all of them written by people I've never heard of.

*(this is a real word)
