A 55 Telecaster under a tree
The player sat plucking and playing with glee
The band are on tour they forgot him to-day
Thank god said the steelie I'll get chance to play.
(only joking, can anyone find a chorus? we could have a hit)
Here's the best I could work out from listening to it. Some of the words are beyond my ability to decipher. Do what I do - make 'em up! Reminds me a little of "I Knew the Bride When she Used to Rock and Roll".

A 55 Telecaster Under My Tree - Carlene Carter
Way back when in nineteen sixty-seven
The Monkees on the radio
My only piece of heaven
Was a band in a rock & roll show
I wanted to plug in and rock it up
But a ukelele's all I had
I would beg my Mama, I would scream and shout
But all she said was "ask your Dad"
Christmas time was a-comin' soon
So Dad said to write to you
I might be a little old for the Santa stuff
But I'm takin' a chance you'll come through
CHORUS
Please Santa please, bring to me
A 55 telecaster under my tree
An amplifier too to make it loud
I guarantee a year from now I'll make you proud
If I was just a little louder I could draw a crowd
Standin' in front of the mirror
In my hip-huggin' bell-bottom jeans
Strap hung low like a Rollin' Stone
Tryin' my best to look mean
I'd practice for hours all alone
And my favorite ...
I'd be jammin' with Animals' For Your Love
Never hearin' my brothers cries
I've got a Malibu blue Dan-electro guitar
And a Silvertone amp from Sears
...
So I'm a-begging you ...
I like those lyrics. I remember when all I had was a uke, too. About 1967, I asked my Daddy for a guitar. I distinctly remember him saying that he had asked around, and someone had told him that the two best guitar brands were Gibson and Kay.
