Rudy & the Surf Kings

Post by Sam Marshall »

A friend of mine and fine bass player/musician, Jack Radavich, dropped off a Christmas CD by Rudy & the Surf Kings. They are a bunch of great players headed by LA guitarist Rudy Guess. He and Jack grew up just down the street from our Scottsdale, AZ office.

They have 2 CDs out. The music is much like the stuff from a Clint Eastwood spaghetti western movie and includes some really cool steel by Doug Livingston.

Check it out if you get a chance. I have no clue as to how to procure it, though.

Best Regards,
Sam

I don't think Rudy is trying to sell these CDs. He makes them more as demos for his music library business. Maybe you can get them at rudyguess.com

Hi Sam!

Jack gave me a copy of that CD a couple of months ago too, and he told me it was a bunch of garage band musicians just fooling around. I didn't listen to it right away, because I thought he was serious.

I have known that Jack is a very talented musician, but he also has a great sense of humor.

When I listened to the CD I couldn't believe my ears. That is an excellent recording in my viewpoint too. Jack is either extremely humble, or very good at fooling his friends!

I hope all is well with you at Fender! I sure hear a lot of good things about your Steel King amplifier! The guys on the Forum sure seem to like it. I sincerely appreciate you and Jack giving me a personal demonstration of it.

Here's wishing you a great Christmas, and much continued success!!

Jim
