Best strings for an acoustic/electric?

Post by Terry Sneed »

I have a fender acoustic /electric. what do you guys think are the best strings(for sound) for my guitar? I've tried those coated strings, can't remember the name, they were easy on the fingers, but I didn't care for the tone at all. I've been buying Fender medium gauge, which are ok, but really hadn't got the tone I like. what about martin or gibson strings on a fender guitar? I'm wanting a good rich acoustic tone. thanks
Terry

I can't remember when I last changed the strings on my Flat-Top guitar and I haven't tried many different brands, but; at the present time I am using Geo. L Medium-Gauge and I like them!

Try Martin Studio Performance (SP) in either medium or lights. I use 'em on both my Gibson and Taylor.

Try Elixers. They are more expensive in the short run, but in the long run, they stay fresh and crisp way longer than any other string out there. They sound super!

Martin's making a set of SP's, in what they're calling a "light/medium" gauge. I'm working my way towards getting them on all my acoustics----only four or five left t go....

I do like Elixers for accoustic, they last way longer, but do not have a bright edge to them, which may be the reason you don't like them. If not Elixers, I like John Pearse. JP

The Elixers are the ones I tried, but just didn't like them. They were easy on the fingers but just didn't have the tone I like.
I bought a set of Martin Sp medium today, and I really like the way they sound on my flattop. thanks to all

You might try a set of Elixer Nano-web.
I'm a big fan of their tone, playability, and longevity.
They are definatly worth trying.

There are a few manufacturers making coated strings.
I also have used the D'Addario EXP coated strings, and liked them.

Has anyone tried the Black Diamond coated strings? http://www.elderly.com/accessories/items/N600LB.htm
