Will Rogers and Jimmy Rodgers Tour

Post by Billy Henderson »

I am searching for any information about the Red Cross famine relief tour organized and sponsored by Will Rogers? This tour, which also featured Jimmie Rodgers, united the country’s two most popular and successful entertainers of their particular genres in a history-making philanthropic collaboration.
The tour took place in January - Feburary of 1931. I am searching for itineraries, news articles, stories published or unpublished. If you have any information or know someone that might please let me know. Thanks

Thanks Joey, actually the delta dirt site is my site, I am just looking for additional information. I did find out there might be some information in Bill Malone's Book on Country Music first published in 1968. I read somewhere he is retired now. Does anyone know how to contact him or if anyone has that book would you please look and see if he included any information about the tour? Many thanks

The Will Rogers Memorial and Museum is in Claremore, Ok., his home town. (mine too) The curators there would probably have information about this, or would know where you could find it.

Thanks Darvin, I was not aware they have a Will Rogers Museum. Will certainly get in contact with them.
