Mark Chesnutt's new CD
Mark Chesnutt has a new CD out called "Saving the Honky Tonk" you can listen to a preview on CMT.com. All I can say is on the first song the first thing you hear is Paul Franklin hitting a killer steel lick on the intro and Brent Mason nailing the Tele licks in classic Brent style, if your not already in Country heaven then you hear one of the best country voices we've had in the last ten years. Plus there are a lot of Texas Shuffle Beats to keep your feet moving. there isn't a bad song on this CD. This is just a breath of freash air. I will be buying the CD tomarrow...

Thanks for the tip. I bought several of his early CD's but sort of lost interest when the powers that be thought he should dance in a video. Certain thinks just are NOT meant to be.
I've always liked his voice, and in the early to mid 90's his sound was pure country. I hope that's the direction this new one takes.

Love to hear PF's creative genius behind Mark Chesnutt. I've taken the PF steel accompanied tunes from 4 or 5 of MC's tapes and CD's and put them onto a single CD for use in the truck. Now will have to make new CD.
[This message was edited by Ray Minich on 22 September 2004 at 08:07 AM.]

This CD yields perhaps the best ratio of steel guitar per music dollar of any that I've bought in a long time.
Great stuff, good music, melodies & lyrics.
I'm tempted to put the lyrics to the tune about the "Lord Loves a Drinkin' Man" on that other thread but then those guys would think me a smart A$$.

Yeah! I just bought this one last night based solely on this thread. Paul's tone is so crisp and clean it's incredible. Really noticeable on some of the intros.
Nice to know that radio is playing this, but I'm betting they'll only select the tamest tracks.
For my money, if the CD is by one of the true-blue country artists than all I need to know is Paul is on steel. Oh, I know he likes to stretch to boundaries and play other genres, but all I want to hear him play is the good old country stuff-- like he does so much for Strait, AJ, Chesnutt, and so many others.
