A very cool Electric Guitar.

Post by Jerry Hayes »

I was shopping for an inexpensive 335 style electric guitar and I wandered upon a great little axe. At the Guitar Center in Virginia Beach they had a new shipment of Epiphones on the floor. One caught me eye! It was a 335 style with a shiny black finish, all black hardware, and only one tone and volume knob on the top instead of the usual two tones and volumes. Also the input jack was on the bottom edge like a Les Paul instead of on top. I plugged one into a Fender DeVille Amp (which is what I use) and the sound was amazing. These are made in the same factory in China that the Ibanez Artcore guitars which got the rave reviews in Guitar Player magazine are made in. There are no position markers on the fingerboard but it has the small dots on the top side of the fretboard so that's OK. They also come in a red and a light blue finish. I liked the black one much better. The good part is that they only sale for $299.00 and they're a wonderful buy. I can't believe the quality you get for that amount. The same guitar is also in Musician's Friend for the same price. It's called the Epiphone "Dot Studio". Check one out, I think you'll like it....JH

A while ago, one of the internet music companies was running a special on the Epiphone "Dot Deluxe". It was a step up from the standard "Dot" model and an exceptional buy. Since I suffer from terminal GAS (guitar acquisition syndrome), naturally I had to have one!

Ahhh yes, Terminal GAS. My wife has me on the wagon and I've been "sober" for over a year now. No, no, take that back, bought a killer little Yamaha gut string about 8 months ago. The only guitar I ever sold was an older archtop style AriProII, great guitar, regret selling it to this day.

The quality of guitars coming out of Asia is really improving. I have a Cort, "Matt Guitar Murphy Special" (Les Paul type). One of the best built guitars I own, and one of the best finishes I've seen (bird's eye maple with magenta glaze and gold hardware).

CrowBear,
I'll have to tell you a story about my cat. Here a while ago it was constipated. I went to the vet and got some pills. The doc thought I said "calf" instead of "cat". As a result, the pills were veeeeeeery effective at treating constipation. So for the last few days my cat has been on the run. It has six cats out front digging holes, six cats behind covering them and another six scouting for new ground!!!!! Image Image
Uff-Da!
