Who did the song "Darlin You're Stronger Than Me

Post by Chrissy Corson-Rigsby »

I've always loved the song but can only remember hearing local singers do it. Being a singer myself, I wanna finally learn it! Anyone know who might have recorded it?
I would really appreciate it!

Patsy Cline . It should be on any of her greatest hits collections.

George Strait has a nice cut of it. I think the album is self-titled, "George Strait". I've never heard anyone else do it, but George does it as an up-tempo shuffle. How ya gonna beat that? (I'm sure the drummers will have an anwser Image )

One of my all time favorite tunes.
Patsy did two versions of the Hank Cochran/Jimmy Key tune- one was a "clone" of I Fall To Pieces arrangement, the other slower, more of a ballad, with strings. Same tune different approaches (I prefer the second)

Searching on keyword Patsy Cline I found Both are available on Apple iTunes, the first listed as "You're Stronger than me (Non-Orchestral version)"
the other as "You're Stronger than me (Orchestral version)"
The lyrics are here

I have my steel instrumental version of the latter here
[This message was edited by Dave Van Allen on 11 June 2004 at 07:20 AM.]

Patsy recorded it on February 28, 1962. No steel on it, but a great song (as all of the Hank Cochran songs are!)

Check out for the "Patsy Cline Collection" (MCAD4-10421), a four CD set that includes her complete recordings - what great music! Image

Kind Regards, Walter

Ronnie Milsap had a pretty good version of it about 25 years ago.
