Wyonna -
Wynonna opened herself up - body, heart and soul on the Oprah Show yesterday. Her sister, mother and husband were all present. Ashley and Naomi spoke very candidly about some painful family issues. But when Wynonna sang I want to know what Love is, it was as though she had “given birth” to herself while the whole world watched. The cameras panned the audience as she delivered. Ashley seemed to show the most emotion. And, Wyonna’s husband, Roach (who had been her bodyguard)perched stalwartly on the front row – seemingly holding the door open for her to walk through. Fantastic!
Here’s a link from the Houston newspaper telling a little about her story. http://www.chron.com/cs/CDA/ssistory.mpl/rodeo/entertainment/2431903

Cauton..attitude content below....
Although I think the gal has talent beyond the definition..Incredibly gifted singer and performer..I am still appauled at when the Mom and Daughter act went on Oprah many many years back to announce that Mom had a terrible illness (terminal I recall) which would force the breakup of the duo..Abundant tears across the stage and audience..which only resluted in the solo career of the daughter Judd..( Not Ashley )Don't get me wrong..I wasn't looking for Mom to push Daisy's.
I would ask this question..Why is it important to know whats happening in the daughters (not Ashley) personal life ?
Is it possible she is getting ready to promo another CD ?
This show had about as much interest for me as the next "See how much Weight Oprah has lost show"...version 12 or 13 I think...
The Judd family goes on TV..they cry..they hug..the audience is sad..then happy..they all smile..they hug again..they kiss each other..and then hug again..add some more tears..blah blah blah...and Oprah made probably another mil and a half..
And all this time I thought the Care Bears show was no longer on TV.
Young Woman crying at dinner with her Husband.
" Honey, why are you crying".."Whats wrong dear" ?..
" I'm not sad honey, I'm just so happy that the Judds are happy again"...

Wynonna and Ashley are both monster talents in my book. I worked a few gigs with Naomi and Christina before they became famous, and I played on their first demo.
In a world of phoney superstars, the Judds stand out as the real deal. It's easy to make fun of people who show their true emotions on stage, but their devoted fans have two very good reasons for loving them: truth and talent.

If one of us gets pulled for DWI/DUI, it MIGHT make the local "Mayberry" paper. Most likely, no one outside the court will ever know. When someone of that stature gets pulled, it makes the global news.
I have known a few celebrities, and I actually feel sorry for them. Every move they make is put under a microscope; their highs are extremely high and their lows are abyssmal. Their personal business becomes fodder for global gossip (granted this goes with the territory).
I can't understand why someone would want to bare their soul to whole world on Oprah, but then my mugshot hasn't been posted on this Forum.
The possession of money and fame does not mean that a person has been blessed.

Tony,
I guess it's just the human aspect - the believability of the message in the materials they sing. Ok, I’ll admit it’s probably a female thing too. So, I’ll put it in “guy/steeler” terms. After hearing Joe Wright dedicate and sing Why Me Lord – to his mother who is afflicted with Alzheimer’s, does ANYONE else move you like Joe, when singing the same song? The emotions are there, and they become a part of us when it’s real.
I would like to see Naomi actually move her facial muscles. She is so beautiful, she looks as though she could break. Don’t you want to see her laugh uncontrollably or do one of those “ugly” cries? (A girl-thing, I guess
)

Hey Donna.
Ms. Judd might have given a good performance on Oprah and that is OK. I just think that after seeing her DUI mug shot plastered all over the net, these TV appearances laced with Mom,Sis and Hubby and alligator tears etc. are more of a PR ploy to recoup her career. Not a dis on Ms. Judd, just looking at the overall picture here.
Mom Judd-!! She da' bomb.

Well, I don't know about "global news" or "revealing stuff to the world" on Oprah.
As you know I'm in London - it didn't make our news that some celeb had drunk some alcohol and got caught in a car. In fact, although the Judds had some success over here I guarantee that most people here would say "who?" when told about Wynonna. And, as far as I know Oprah isn't prime time here any more. Maybe bored-housewife-daytime now.
Mind you, country music is a pretty small backwater here too, which is a shame. But is she "country"? I dunno. My interest stops after Webb Pierce personally!

Carl... I agree that Naomi is a very pretty woman. But, I would give my right leg just to stand next to Ashley (of course I probably wouldn't be standing without that right leg). As far as the age thing, I am fast approaching 50 this year.
I will confess, that do like Wynonna when I am in the mood for her. The early Judds stuff was great. One of my all time favorite songs is "Mr. Pain" which was written by Naomi as I recall.
And yes, Ashley is my favorite actress. Mmmmmmmmmmmmm Ashley.

Ok guys – you’ve made your points. Ummmmmmm Ashley is indeed a real beauty. Tommy even bought Laura Ashley sheets to try convincing me of WHY he does the “Ummmmmmm Ashley” thing in his sleep. Good save, huh?
Now, regarding the mug shot. Because that got so much attention, I believe Wyonna is entitled to having her say to apologize and speak freely to anyone who wants to listen. She is paying her dues in humiliation – and clearly, she realizes that so many people who drink and drive, have a much heavier burden to carry than mere humiliation. Maybe among her fans who really DO want to know about her personal life, there might be someone who benefits from her message. We all have moments that somehow impact our life’s direction.
Another point about the Mug Shot – If you didn’t know it was taken while she was intoxicated, I bet most of us would think she’s cute. Consider this scenario: Wyonna and Roach make a pact that they will both be more diligent in cutting down on carbs. The two turn-in for the night. Roach is making nice long deep snores – a good indication that he is in deep sleep. Wyonna has on her flannel PJs. She decides to go have a glass of chocolate milk with a scoop of ice cream. A roach gets on Roach (sorry, I needed drama for my story!) and wakes him up. He looks over at his wife for comforting, and she isn’t there! He wanders off to the kitchen to see if she’s maybe up eating a piece of beef jerky and a slice of cheese. He walks in the kitchen, and to his dismay, there sits Wyonna eating ice cream in her chocolate milk! NOW think of that mug shot. Isn’t she cute if you look at it from that perspective?
