Yup! I guess that Nashville feels that they haven't diluted country music enough with rock music. So, now it's time to screw it up in other ways. And now we see rap music enter the room! What next?

R.I.P. COUNTRY MUSIC.

What do they think they can accomplish by doing that? Getting rap audiences to buy more country...or country audiences explore the rich world of rap? Don't know if I should laugh or cry!

Kind Regards, Walter

I guess I don't know this Uncle Kracker.
No loss I'm sure.
It's odd that New Country artists will list legendary's like Jones, Cash, Haggard, Owens etc, etc as their musical influences and then turn around and put as much distance as possible between their styles and that of their supposed heroes.

David,
I think Uncle Kracker is a member of Rascal
Flat's family.

Don't know if I'm reading the posts right, but Uncle Kracker is not a rap artist. Also, it's a band, not a person. Straight-up pop, for the most part. I believe their current single is the old Dobie Gray tune "Drift Away"<FONT SIZE=1 COLOR="#8e236b"><p align=CENTER>[This message was edited by Chris Walke on 05 April 2004 at 08:16 AM.]</p></FONT>

Whoops! You're right. I was right about the current single, wrong about everything else. I've only heard his pop stuff, never any of his rap stuff.

Well folks, as bad as I hate to say it, times have changed alot from when the greats were in their day. The new artists have, for the most part, never fed chickens, milked a cow,ran a still,or any of that stuff that adds authenticity to the music. There are no more "Hillbillys" any more. Most of us, in what sociologists call "generation x", have grown up on the side of town where all of the hillbillys from the country bought houses. I don't like the "new" country music that much either. Anyone who has seen me post on this forum knows my disdain for Kenny Chesney and Rascall Flats. They are the David Cassidy and Monkees of "new" country. Just my two cents.

I didn't know who the artists were when I first heard it - and yes, I like it too. It has a nice groove, and is refreshing and uplifting.

Suburbanized rock/rap music put out by the anti country crowd. It can't get much worse. It looks like the bottom of the barrel is showing. Pure garbage.<FONT SIZE=1 COLOR="#8e236b"><p align=CENTER>[This message was edited by Kevin Hatton on 14 April 2004 at 06:30 PM.]</p></FONT>

Kevin,
You might want to check with Lynn Owsley about Uncle Cracker. Lynn is about as country as you can get and sometimes plays steel for Mr. Kracker. But then again what would E.T.'s old steel player know about that sort of stuff ?

I did a google search for your band "Bareback Jack".
You guys get some nice gigs.

Bob, I know I'm a hard a$$. I'm not always right, and when you post believe me I listen. Don't mind my ravings. We just got selected to open for Neal McCoy in front of 15,000 people in July.
I also have the priveledge of opening for Marty Stuart in two weeks. I am blessed to play with Nashville quality award winning smoke players. They are a great band. About the best I've played with in 35 years. I am VERY fortunate.
Now I will research Uncle Kracker. Thanks.<FONT SIZE=1 COLOR="#8e236b"><p align=CENTER>[This message was edited by Kevin Hatton on 15 April 2004 at 07:46 AM.]</p></FONT>

Well as far as Im concerned anyone who can make an honest living in music these days is ok by me, I wish I could just play and play and play but there are people close to me that need a little more than just honest music, need to feed the baby's and keep the wolf from the door too.......perhaps in my next life I will play and be able to have peace in my heart and mind and soul.....
