what's a good traditional country radio station?

I don't like todays so-called country. what's a good traditional country, and country gospel station to listen to on the internet?
also, is there any such thing as a station with steel solos? thanks

Dear Terry,

I am listening to a live stream from Real One (Real Player Audio) they have four different kinds of country stations, the traditional one would be right up your alley.

No modern hat bands, just lots of traditional country with lots of pedal and non-pedal steel. It costs me 9 bucks a month, but I think it's worth it. I rarely hear the same song twice, and even if I do, how bad is that really? I think if you go to www.real.com you can find out how to subscribe. A funny coincidence, they're playing Merle Haggard's "Working Man Blues", which reminds me, that I should get some work done now.

Check that link out, and then go to http://www.petitiononline.com/mod_perl/signed.cgi?jack24 and sign the petition so that the suits will put his show back on the radio, where it belongs. As of now, people who don't have Internet connections can't hear this great music anymore!

Click on Radio on the top left and it will give you many choices for radio stations 24 hrs. a day at NO cost.

I go between classic country, southern rock and outlaw country. I have selected them as "favorites" and go back and forth between them.

My satalite dish TV (Directv) has a nice selection of radio stations at the end of the band that specialize in different genres of music. There's a good Country station on there! (good jazz, blues, and bluegrass too)

My wimpy computer and 56K dial up internet connection make listening to SteelRadio.com too frustrating. Only about 10 seconds before it starts buffering. Too bad...They have great stuff on there!!!

As far as my car radio goes, I listen to NPR.
Now that Clear Channel has taken it over too, I might have to start listening to the voices in my head.

Great Texas station 95.3 The Range out of Plano. A lot of steel guitar pedal and non pedal, Western Swing, Tradional, Americana Country. Tunes you won't hear just anywhere. I thrive on new stuff and this new stuff bends the barriers. It's free from their website.

WGDN, 103.1 FM, Gladwin, MI. ALL NIGHT LONG! When it comes to "traditional country music" this station is absolutely kickin' butt and takin' names in the mid-Michigan area. I mean Ray Price, Faron Young, Carl Smith, Bill Anderson, Porter Wagoner, Hank Thompson, Ernest Tubb, Sonny James, Roy Acuff, Kitty Wells, Loretta Lynn, Patsy Klein, Melba Montgomery, Rose Maddox, Webb Pierce, Hank Williams, Lefty Frizzell, Bob Wills, Spade Cooley, Marty Robbins, Merle, George, Buck, Willie, Waylon, all the brother acts, and everybody in between. I don't know if they are on the Web as yet, but here's their telephone number if you want to find out: (989)426-1031.

During daylight hours they play mostly top-40 country music, Sunday mornings they have a polka DJ since this is "da Saginaw Valley" after all, and at Christmas time it's solid Christmas Music for about 3 or 4 weeks straight. There is also a rumor out that they might try broadcasting a local Opry-style country music show via a live feed sometime in the not-too-distant future. Pretty nifty station.
