For any of you interested in acquiring "NEW" 78rpm record players......you can fine them at www.fingerhut.com It's a "Nostalgia"

Ray,

Sure it is! Unfortunately I sold all my 78rpm records a few years back because I didn't have a player anymore!

My bad luck!

Kind Regards, Walter

John,

You are right, the circle really never ends! Did you know that they already started producing vinyl records again, this time with bonus tracks (songs that are not on CD!). Funny world!

There are places one can buy OLD 78's for double or triple what YOU likely sold yours for. Need the address?

8-tracks, eh? I just happen to have a neat little recorder that will allow you to record you old 78's or LP's onto blank 8-tracks........ Gee's, you could likley corner the market if you get hoppin' on this. TIMING is the key to success!! Let me know if I can help!

Ed,

Especially the Rockabilly kids are going crazy for vinyl records, companies even started to make new record players, like the portable ones they made in the 50's. Retro Rockabilly bands produce a lot of EPs and 45 singles, some of of them they even announce proudly as "not available on CD"!

The wheel is turning backwards!

Ray,

One of the best things I ever bought was my CD Recorder. It's a neat little machine with a double CD deck (for copying full CDs or single tracks). I have hooked this up to my stereo and now I can burn CDs directly from LP, 45 or cassette tapes. I can also connect my Mini Disc Recorder and go from MD directly to CD. I use this all the time!

I got one back in October because I did not have a working turntable. Considering what dampness has done to my 5 cd player I use this unit for everything and it sits to my left under my desk.
________

Someone move this to music please?

I always look for 78's to add to my collection. I have a few of the old "school" record players. I believe a true record collector should have one in every room. They really kick out the sound. You can usually find them at thrift stores for under $10. Schools are really unloading them as they clean out their store rooms.

I've been looking at the retro players, but so for I haven't been impressed with the tone arms and the flimsy turntables. For the price they are asking I guess I expect better quality.

I transfer a number of my 78's to CD and use software to clean them up, so I'd rather put my money on a higher end turn table and get the a 78rpm cartridge. There are also differnt stylis for various record labels (which is why a very clean 78 will sometimes sound like crap. They stylis isn't fitting in the groves correctly. This is most evident on pre-war 78's.
