WOW, is all I can say! In my opinion Joe is going to be one of the greats as he has his own unique style. I can hardly wait to get his new CD. Keep up the good work Joe.

Joe is a new artist (singer) and he appeared on the Opry last night. I can not begin to say how much I enjoyed his singing and if my intuition is correct, he will be one the greats.

I didn't here him sing, but I caught part of an interview with him and it sounded like he's Roy Nichols son. Anybody know for sure?

I don't know if Roy Nickels is his dad or not. Did Roy Nickels pass away not long ago? I know that Joe Nickels dad passed here recently. Anyway- I heard Joe do Hag's "Kick Out The Footlights" on the Opry a few weeks back, and he tore it up. I hope to hear more from this guy- it was great.

Deana,
Gregg got me Joe's cd. He thanks his parents Robin & Mike.

Joe reminds me of a cross between a young Haggard & Whitley! Great voice! Image

Dan Dugmore, Mike Johnson on Pedabro, Jerry Douglas in addition to John & Tommy.

Theresa, I heard that his dad was only 49, so I figured out that it couldn't be Roy. Thanks for the reply. By the way, when and what shows are you back stage at the Opry? Our steel player took a job with Holly Dunn and we've gone with him down to the show before and plan to go again soon, maybe we could meet sometime.

Deana,
Who's your steelplayer? I've always enjoyed Holly Dunn.

The only time I go backstage is when they let me in! Image Perhaps it'll be one of those times.
Thanks, Theresa
[This message was edited by Theresa Galbraith on 02 August 2002 at 06:41 PM.]

Theresa-
His name is Mike Sigler. He has played with The Clark Family on all of our albums, and done lots of shows with us for the last 8 years. He also plays our show the "Ohio Valley Opry" when he's not out with Holly. He seems to be having a good time with her new band. Anyway, one of these days, maybe we will meet up.

This morning on a Diane Sawyer segment, she did a story about Joe and it really told an old story about country music and it's fans.

Seems a fan of Joe's used to like his song The Impossible and I may have that title wrong. But then he wrecked his truck and is now the main character in a true life situation as he once listened to that of the hero in the song. As he struggles to regain his abilities and talents, here comes Joe Nichols to the hospital with his guitar and they sing the song togeather.

That's what I have always thought country music to be about and it says more than I ever could or would about Mr. Nichols !! Way to go man !! You gotta love it !!

I have no hesitation in electing Joe Nichols the best singer in country music for years!

What a change to hear a really accomplished vocalist, and one who shows a level of technique to match that of the top musicians in the genre.

When's that new CD coming!!!?

Joe Nichols and Josh Turner. Real deal country boys, not pretty boys.

I thought as much, Theresa! Image

When I first saw a picture of Joe I was inclined to dismiss him as another pretty guy getting the full treatment from a record company - then I heard his voice!

Paul G., give a listen to Brokenheartsville or Cool to Be a Fool. Good stuff.
At first I thought it was Mark Chestnutt, then found out it was a new artist.

Did you hear him on Austin City Limits a while back singing "Farewell Party"! Fantastic.

Take care,

David: I have recently heard both of those. A former playing pal brought a CD around and said: "listen to this guy..."!!

I also recall the first time I heard Mark Chestnut; I thought it was a very young Merle Haggard release but soon learned more about him as well. Thanks !!
