Tracy Nelson
I recently was listening to an old favorite lp, "Mother Earth Presents Tracy Nelson Country." The recording was done in the early l970s and features Pete Drake, Johnny Gimble, and a bunch of the A Team of that time, including the Jordanaires and Elvis Presley's rhythm section. I forgot how much I enjoyed this music when it first came out. Does anyone know what Tracy Nelson in doing today?

Check out "Sing It!" ... a wonderful CD with Tracy, Marcia Ball and Irma Thomas. I can't recommend it too highly.

No relation to Rick or Willie. There's a fairly decent bio and discography on her at www.allmusic.com/

She's one of the truly under-appreciated singers as far as I'm concerned. Last I knew she was still living here in Nashville (or maybe nearby) and only singing locally now and then. Incredibly soulful.
[This message was edited by Chris Bauer on 24 November 2003 at 06:49 PM.]

She's probably less than ten years younger than Ricky Nelson, but Tracy as mentioned is not his offspring, or any relation.
She's a TExan folkie who dug blues, hooked up with some other like minds from Texas and they formed a band in Saf Francisco in the latter half of the mid 1960s, the band was Mother Earth.
Although a rock band, they delved heavily into blues and country in the late 1960s, and she cut a mostly country album in 1973, which you can get on Cd via Evangeline Records is memory serves me right. The same label that handles a lot of The Sir Douglas Quintet reissues, and the Mother Earth and Sir Doug Quintet shared some minor members over the years.

Mother Earth's "Living With The Animals" album was always in heavy rotation among my friends in SF in the 60's. It was one of my core musical influences before I discovered Country.
