Paul...
Didn't Nat Stuckey record that tune? Don't remember if there was a female on it or not.

Written and recorded by Nat Stuckey. Also recorded by Mel Tillis(1967), George Jones(1967), Jerry lee Lewis &Linda Gail Lewis(1970), and Jimmy Dean and Dottie West in 1970.

Cowboy Copas did a song in the early 60's called "Sweet Thing" but not the same song as this. It was written by Buddy Starcher.

One of my very favorite ET and Loretta songs is a ballad called "Beautiful Unhappy Home" written by Johnny Russell and Teddy Wilburn. (steel by Buddy Charleton) and I also love "Mr. and Mrs. Used To Be' Their duets are not as well known as Conway and Loretta's, but they cut some fine records. Jason

Graham,

Buddy Starcher's "Sweet Thing" is one of my all-time favorite country songs. Back in the mid-seventies Steve Young (writer of "Seven Bridges Road" and others) did a cover of it on his Renegade Picker album featuring the fabulous pickin' of Buddy Emmons.... Chill bumps from here 'till sometime next week! The CD has been re-released on BMG Records. Check-it-out!

Keep on pickin'!

Loretta Lynn - A TRUE country music icon!!! Close your eyes and imagine being on her front porch when she was growing up. She and all her siblings sitting around with a big glass of iced tea - strumming and singing. Does anyone know if Crystal G's music style resembled Loretta's early in her career?

I've always wondered why they sang so different since they were sisters. Maybe Crystal trained her voice. I like Loretta's singing more than Crystal's.

Bill,
Buddy Charleton did all the steel work on ET and Loretta's duets. In fact, it was the entire Texas Troubadour band and also, I believe, Jerry Smith on piano.

The reason for the difference in Loretta and Brenda Gayle AKA Crystal Gayle is that Loretta grew up in Butcher Hollow and Crystal Gayle grew up in Indiana . They talk a good bit different in Indiana than they do in Butcher Hollow. Jody.

I didn't know that, Jody. Do you happen to know the age difference between the two? Did they have different family relationships, or did the family move? Thanks!
