Dixie Chicks Done it again

Post by Joe Law »

Chicks to break with country scene

The Dixie Chicks say they don't want to be a country music
band any more.

Violinist Martie Maguire told Spiegel magazine: "We don't
feel part of the country scene any longer, it can't be our
home any more."

She said she was disappointed other country singers didn't
back up the Dixie Chicks in their criticism of George W
Bush's politics on Iraq.

"A few weeks ago, Merle Haggard said a couple of nice
words about us, but that was it," Maguire complained.

"The support we got came from others, like Bruce
Springsteen."

Going home empty-handed from the Country Awards
ceremony also made them decide to break with the scene,
Maguire said.

"Instead, we won three Grammys against much stronger
competition.

"So we now consider ourselves part of the big Rock 'n' Roll
family."

I can think of a dozen even more so called country acts that should follow them . Lets hope the producers and label heads along with a ton of DJ's feel the same way. Maybe theres some hope after all. Image

Country music: Did I hear you say you are giving up on me?

Dixie Chicks: Yes we are.

Country music: What did I do?

Dixie Chicks: Well come to think about it, YOU did unt do anythun?

Country music: Then why give up on me?

Dixie Chicks: Well, dang; we have to blame someone.

Country: Blame someone for what?

Dixie Chicks: Well we didn't do anyahthun wrong and all the country folks just suddenly turned their backs on us. Fer NO reason at all.

Country: Oh really?

Dixie Chicks: Yes they did, and we didunt do nuttin.

Country music: Well, what would it take for you to stay with me?

Dixie: well, we demand an apology from EVERY country musician, PLUS an apology from every one on this forum for all the bad things they said about us which we didunt deserve it. Like, you know, we didunt do nuttin. They just singled us outta the crowd and said naughty things about us.

Plus all the American people that were so uptight about us goun over on foreign soil and slamming a no good stinkun president.

Country music: Oh really?

Dixie Chicks: Ya durn tootun.

Country music: Did ya slam president Clintax when he desecrated the white house?

Dixie Chicks: NO way! We would never do a thing like that.

Country music: How come?

Dixie: He is a cutie and he's a liberal. And Liberals never lie and he's for old people and kids and all that ya know. We hate Bush cuz he hates women and kids an all that ya know. Sides, he is ona dem borned agin whatchamacallitz. And NO body likes that kind anyahway.

Country Music: Do you really believe that?

Dixie Chicks: Ya durn tootun. And ya know whut?

Country music: What?

Dixie Chicks: Ole GWB murdered innocent women and children all over Iraq.

Country music: I thought that was Sadam Hussein who did that.

Dixie Chicks: nah that's just Fox news network propoganda that pulled the wool over yer eyes. Sides ole Sadam is kinda cute too. I kinda wish he'd ask one of us out on a date. He is sooo nice. We saw pictures of him with little children and he was jest the most handsome kinda man. Not like that trashy GWB. Why he's nuttun but a muderin cowboy from texas.

Country Music: Speekin of Texas, will ya keep a steel guitar in the band when you go a rockun n a rollun?

Dixie Chicks: Not unless the steel guitar apologizes too.

Country Music: Oh really?

Dixies Chicks: Ya durn tootin, and that goes for Hawaryan git' tars and dem danged Doberose also too.

Country Music: So it sounds like to me you are against everyone.

Dixie Chicks: Ya durn tootin.

Country Music: why are you in bed with the covers pulled high over your head.

Dixie Chicks: Well, the entire world owes us an apology and unless they do it, we are going to keep our head buried under the covers.

Country Music: Oh really

Dixie Chicks: ya durn tootin

Country Music: Oh well. (Yawn) ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Oh jeez. I had a BUNCH of thoughts, but who wants to hear them, and do I want to be ostracized for having an opinion too? Doesn't seem worth it I guess. Ah, the land of the free... as long as you agree with the majority.
[This message was edited by Nicholas Dedring on 22 September 2003 at 09:21 PM.]
