Dixie Chicks: Tickets sold but how many really w

Post by Dayna Wills »

I saw that the Dixie Chicks were in S Carolina for their first concert in the states. Another group across town told folks that if they would turn in their Chicks tickets (at $66.00 a pop) they would donate the money to military families. The following morning an ent. guy said the Chick's concert sold out. What I wanna know is, how many actually attended? I think this donation thing may have backfired because it LOOKS like they filled the concert by ticket sales, but people DID turn their tickets in. I wish the people reporting would say what the "attendance" was. Anybody hear anything about THAT?

I think this vendetta/backlash against the band (which has included death threats) is ugly and un-American. Whatever happen to the idea that "I may disagree with what you say but I'll defend to the death your right to say it"?

The news reported they were sold out with about 15 protesters out front with signs. As for the backlash/vendetta against the chicks they have the right to say anything they want because it is a free country at least for now. On the other hand they must stand to be judged for what they said by all who are listening. I wonder if they thought their record sales would go up because of the remark? Paul McCartney used good judgement when asked what he thought about it. He said he was a performer not a politician. That's a pro.

I feel a "lock looming" on this one.

In the "end" people will have to realise that their music and looks will triumph.

Nobody expects a lot, mentally, OR politically from "Chicks", especially when self proclaimed as such.I don't remember "Dixie" as being a place where elevated social awareness was "king"
quote:
If the Confederacy fails, there should be written on its tombstone: Died of a Theory.

-Jefferson Davis-)

Now if they'd called themselves Thinking Women From Mainstream America, there might be a little more of a cause for dissapointment among "thinking people".

Who gives a crap?

I like their shuffles..

And I think Ghengis Khan was too "socialistic".

I suppose some will buy their records to burn them. Some will buy them to protest the "Evil Republican War Machine"(MP Image). Some will buy them out of lust. I'll probably just get work tapes with their songs.

I'm closing this topic because it's rapidly regenerating into a discussion of politics, not music.
