Kansas City

I'm currently interviewing for a contract-to-hire job in Kansas City and was wondering what the music scene is like there.
What is the diversity of music? Steel? Singer-songwriter, blues, rock?

According to fellow forum member Stephen Gambrell, KC has "some of the best Jazz in the country." Unfortunately, I haven't heard anything about steel or other forms of music. Perhaps somebody from, or familiar with, KC could chime in.
