There's a long running inside joke here about b0b's hatred of anything with 5 strings and a skin head.
Don't worry about it. As long as b0b remains on his medication it's not a problem.
This explains why you will see this instrument's name written in code (example:b@njo). That way b0b does not realize what we're talking about, and trouble is avoided.
Back to your original question, try http://www.banjonews.com/ and the links found there.

I am crushed.
I thought there were only three perfect instuments in the world, the steel guitar, the fiddle, and the banjo.
In my next life, i plan on learning the fiddle too.
Banjo sounds best, IMO, as back-up.
I have subscribed to BNL (banjo newsletter) since its inception clear back in about 1976.
Great magazine.
But i was hoping for something for the banjo like we have here for guitar, where tabs are shared and expertise freely given.
I do remember something like that years ago but it wasn't divided up into sections like it is here, and it was impossible to stay up on the number of posts.

I'm adding banjo tabs to my web site at www.16tracks.com.
Do a search in "Yahoo Groups" for BgnrBanjo. There are quite a few folks in that group.
There's also Banjo-L, which is a newsgroup/list type thing. There are also plenty of others on the net but this should be a good start.
I've been playing banjo for nearly 20 years now. Feel free to ask if you have any questions.

I haven't found any b@njo forums as good as The Steel Guitar Forum.
There is a fairly good forum for mandolin-
The Mandolin Cafe
and a bluegrass forum with a few b@njo pickers is Bluegrass Rules

Banjo Hangout www.banjohangout.org/ is the best site I've found. It has lots of free tabs, lessons, a forum, links, etc... Check it out!

Actually, I like banjos. I think they look really cool. They sound best when they're hanging on a wall.

Any person on earth who questions b0b Lee's objectivity on this or any other subject was obviously not present at the Texas convention some years ago when one of the hotel employees approached a throng of steel players in the lobby, to ask his own personal burning question:
"Settle an argument for us...Which is harder to learn to play; the banjo or the pedal steel guitar?" he asked b0b....
You'd think the poor man had just swallowed a mouthful of Javex. Yet the diplomacy remained intact. Truly a wonder.

My wife and b0b feel exactly the same about banjo's.
(but,I would really like to achieve proficiency on a five-string) www.genejones.com

Yes, one could make a case for adding bagpipes to the list.
I once went to a wedding and they had a Scottish piper playing at the church entrance as you walked in. It was just unbelievable. Left goose bumps all over your neck.
Should probably also add a well played harp to the list, but i haven't heard a really great harpist in a long time, at least not someone like Harpo Marx who could just shower you with notes. He was awesome.

I was always taught that honesty is the best policy....
b0b - my next gig is to be playing b*njo for six weeks in the musical, 'Chicago' - there, it's out in the open!
Is there any sort of penalty system in force on the SGF - in short, will I still be able 'post' here? I have to believe that, even after a slip like this, it's still possible to go on to become a useful member of society.

Say ten "Hail Buddys" after each performance and buy one new steel CD from the Forum Catalog every week to atone for your digression.

Speakin of the harp... there's this really nice lady harpist in Vegas. She plays for all kinds of groups of people in all the nicest rooms in Vegas. Unreal ambiance(sp)
No amp needed...
Speaking of no amp needed.. my dad was a piper in the Shrine for 30 years. Very majestic instrument, ancient in its roots.
Hard as hell to play. Appreciated by few.
Ever hear 16 LIVE pipers play at the same time? If you have, you know why they were a genuine 'weapon' in the Royal forces durring all those centuries.... make ya tremble like a scared little girl, soil yer scivys and lose your hearing all at the same time...

I think that would help us all, even if we don't play b@njo!
