Nashvillie Rebel-Movie

Post by Craig Stock »

I just came across this video, sounds interesting, has anyone seen or heard of it?

NASHVILLE REBEL, THE 1966 U.S. film. Very rare country music film. Waylon Jennings stars as an ex-GI who becomes a local sensation with his singin' and strummin'. He gets married and has a run-in with a crooked agent and becomes a drunk. His wife puts him back on his feet when she cons the agent into giving him a shot at the Grand Ole Opry! Songs include: "Nashville Rebel," "Green River," "Long Way from Home," "Nashville Bum," "Silver Ribbons" (Waylon Jennings). "Hillbilly Heaven" (Tex Ritter). "Country Music's Gone to Town" (Porter Wagoner). "Sweet Dream of You" (Faron Young). "Do What You Do, Do Well" (Sonny James). "Christmas at the Opry" (Wilburn Brothers & Loretta Lynn), and "You Ain't Woman Enough" (Loretta Lynn). Waylon Jennings, Loretta Lynn, Tex Ritter, Sonny James, Porter Wagoner, Faron Young, Mary Frann, CeCe Whitney, Wilburn Bothers, Henny Youngman.

I remember seeing that movie at a Drive in. It was like the second feature and I enjoyed it enough to buy the Album. Ole String Bean was the father in law with the shotgun that made Waylon marry his daughter...Good Pic to revisit.I also liked Green river.Waylon wasn't that bad as an actor either.
