Gary D. Davis

I recently ran across an entry on All Music Guide for a banjo and guitar player named Gary D. Davis. According to this entry, Gary was born in South Carolina and has apparently recently passed away in New Jersey (the entry lists him appearing on a 2001 CD release).

I attended a flatpicking workshop about a year and a half ago by Steve Kaufman. Along with Steve there was a guy named Gary Davis who held a banjo workshop. I remember Gary as being a super-nice guy and a phenomenal banjo player and guitar player. I believe that Gary said he was Herby Wallace's son-in-law.

Does anyone know if these Gary Davises are one in the same? If so, my condolences to Mr. Wallace.
