Two Chord Songs

Post by Jim Florence »

Lefty Frizzel's "I love you a thousand ways" has only two chords in it and to me it's one of the prettiest songs ever. Another is Letters have no arms, by ET . What courage it must have taken for the writer to think a two chord song could hit. Just an observation.

"Waltz Across Texas", E.T. and the Troubadors
(if you don't count the augmented chord Buddy Charlton used in his part of the instrumental).

"All You Ever Do Is Bring Me Down" - The Mavericks, Paul Franklin on Steel.

Always fills the dance floor.
The guitar riff sounds like "Mountain Dew".

Drivin nails in my coffin- ET
Honky Tonkin - Hank
All of these so far have been I-VI progression, how about some I-IV like "Are you sure Hank Done it This Way"

For the one chord stuff I just saw George Thorogood last friday and he must have played about an hour of one chord songs.
[This message was edited by Alvin Blaine on 02 October 2002 at 12:26 AM.]

Pride - But the change comes at different a time on the verse than it does on the bridge. Great words too.
