They got "Nashburg" beat all to pieces !!!

GayLord has sucked all the music out of "Nashville", along with "Phil" who sold out the community to "Big Business".

GayLord and Bredesen have effectivly set "Nashville" back into the days of ...... (you may insert anything you wish here).

It's a sad time for the people and culture that made "Nashville". Nashville is "Country Music". Not football or the printing capitol of the world. Hellfire man, we ain't even known for the religious printing (which we do more that any other city in the world). Ask anyone,They will say "Country Music" when asked about "Nashville". Too bad,the leaders and shakers of this community arn't as bright as the common folks !!

I am awaiting for the "New Change" I keep hearning(sp) about in Nashville. In the meantime,I will spend my money in Pigeon Forge and Branson and other "Country Music" places.

IMHO --I think a nice touch would be for some successful group of people,who understand where country music should be and have the common sense to see where it is headed, to take over the Ryman.
There, have the veterans of the art and the
allies of TRUE country,(No Screaming voices or Distorted guitars).
Let Fisher and his contemporary cronies choke on their new plan over at the current
Opry facility.
The veterans of country music deserve much better.

Well Said! The veterans of our music that have devoted their lives to entertaning us all are being overlooked, unappreciated and pushed aside.Charlie Walker can do a Wester Swing number in a first class manner, Stu Phillips, Billy Walker, Ernie Ashworth, Jean Shepherd, Connie, they can all do as good a job as any of the "top sellers" who are scheduled.

I had heard only one show in Pigeon Forge has a steel player! Herby of course! If this not correct? Last time I was in Branson the shows had bunches of steel players, as at the Myrtle Beach "Carolina Opry."..and at the Alabama Theatre show (although the "star" doesn't play it that much - but it is a left handed steel - don't see those that much).

Geez, I don't know about this. I've been to the Opry about 3 times over a span of about 15 years and each time it was the same nucleus of performers....it's as if it was the SAME show...never changed.
I love this music and respect these performers but does it have to be played FOREVER?
What's wrong with making room for the new performers?

I just saw a ton of real country music in Nashville. About half of the bands up and down Broadway were doing real country, Haggard, Jones, Frizzell. The other half was what I call Weenie country, but ya gotta take the bad with the good I guess. One bar we wandered into had that Joe Nichols (I think that's his name) guy hanging out. He got up and sang three tunes, all Haggard, good to see the young guys remember that stuff. And the regular singer from the band said, "which one ya wanna hear?" when I asked if he knew any Wynn Stewart tunes. Turns out this twenty something kid knew about a half dozen of them!! I also saw some wonderful steel players playing good stuff. It's not the musician's who are ruining Nashville. Are we talking about Nashville TN or some other Nashburg? I just came back from a short visit and all I saw was a couple of clubs with a singer pickin for tips..Gaylords Arena advirtising an up coming rock extravaganza and WRASLING.There was plenty of advirtising in a free mag of where to go and the Palace was probably the best bet.The "Home" of country music seemed unoccupied to me..Where there use to be a tourist bus pulling up one after the other I counted three in the three hours we were down lower broad drinking 3.50 beers. and the small busses were only 1/3 to half full.I guess the Gaylord are a great influence to the tourist business. Nashville not only is changing the music they certainly have changed the tourist attractions er things to see.Best bet go to a Titans game and see a good Football team when they come to town to play the Titans. Titans
