Fiddle Fest

Last night we went to a show called the Fiddle Fest here in Brisbane Australia.
Didnt know what to expect...but as our daughter is a fiddler amongst other instruments we decided to go.
WOW what a show...front line was Five fiddles and the back line was a very nice sympathic drummer and a magic stand up electric bass player..
I was expecting a lot of slow sleepy stuff or maybe some dreary classical stuff.........Hush My Mouth!!!!
They we full on with Jigs...reels......Cajun.....Orange Blossom like you wouldnt believe.....and Tiger Rag about half as fast again as it is supposed to be.
At any one time there would be at least three fiddles playing..while one doubled on guitar or mandolin,the lady of the group....Clare...also doubled on Cajun accordian or Red Hot Blues or Jazz Piano...she also sang a couple of Jazz standards...wonderful!
I was very fortunate to be invited 'Back Stage' where I spent quite some time talking to the bass player and to Clare.....only to find out that they are also with the Feral Swing Katz....who played such a great set in St Louis and also in Nashville......I told them of the impression they created......they werent aware that a certain Gentleman who wears funny shorts went along with LDG to see them in Nashville that gave them a real buzz when I told them that !! and so it should !
Well I have never posted here before but I just felt so proud of them......and I had a great visit with them...Oh yes...mutual friends were mentioned too......I told them I was going to write it up here ....so here it is !!!!!!!

Small world! Here they've been from one end of it to the other, and with b0b's Steel Guitar Forum we make the connection.

I really enjoyed their St. Louis shows. I hope they come back.
