I was asked this weekend where I was playing,who was the first fiddler that played ORANGE BLOSSOM SPECIAL
Was it JOHNNY GIMBLE????

The Rouse Brothers(Ervin on fidle) recorded it first in June of 1939(not 1929 like they said in the other thread) and then Bill Monroe in Oct. of 1941 with Art Wooten on fidle. Both recordings were on the Bluebird label. Chubby Wise always claimed that he co-wrote the tune with Ervin T. Rouse, and Chubby did it on just about every show he played.
