I was in Target today and i bought a CD called Celtic Bagpipes. I'm halfway through it and i can tell you i love it. The recordings are all digital and they are full and warm. There are 14 cuts, and most are 3 part medleys. It has a sort of modern edge, but most of the tunes are traditional. There are all sorts of pipes, flute, acoustic bass, some with percussion. Not a large ensemble, usually a drone and dual pipes. If this sounds interesting to you i can say you won't be disappointed. Actually, i didn't think the first cut was played too well, and i expected worse. But no, it's high quality. Well worth $10.

I see that Anne Heyman plays harp on it. She's a fine player.
Is there any other place to buy it besides Target? I recently complained to them by email about a manager that was rude, abusive, diffident, and condescending. Their response was hopelessly lacking in understanding or appropriate response.
BTW, PSG is wonderful for Celtic music. I play tunes like "Eleanor Plunkett", "Sheebeg and Sheemore", and "The Boys of Bluehill".

I was in Target again today and bought another Lifescape CD called Celtic Dance. No pipes in this one. It's all fiddles, flutes, whistles, and accordian with a fat rhythm section. The smooth low end really makes this CD shine. Same producer and players as Celtic Pipes(sans pipes). These two CDs are some of the best recordings of traditional Celtic music i've ever heard. A real surprise when you consider they were made for a theme display in a discount store. I made some tapes for the car and a lot of people look... unlike when someone rolls up playing offensive garbage from their sound system and you pretend it's not there.
