Tommy Shane is from a famous rodeo and ranching family here in Austin, and we're not related. His great grandpa Buck Steiner and his granddad Tommy Steiner were rodeo producers and championship cowboys. The family also made gazillions of dollars buying ranchland around Austin and selling it to developers for high-dollar homesites.

I did play a gig with TSS sitting in one night about 12 years ago when he was in his late teens and he seemed pretty talented to me. We all knew him as "Shane" for years. His dad, Bobby Steiner, is my age and, aside from being a great rodeo cowboy, is best known for giving Jerry Jeff Walker an ass-whuppin' in Fort Worth.

As I understand it, it was deserved!

If anybody talks to Jim Bob Garrett, (Kenny Chesneys steeler), could you please tell him to call Pete Burak at 503-452-3756.

Him and I used to live in Billings, Montana for most of the 80's.

He was with his family band, "The Garrett Bothers", and I was with "Billy Waldo and the Flying Grizzlies".

We crossed paths alot and played some jams (2 steels on stage, 4 guitars, Johnny B. Goode, you get the picture

)

I don't think he has email.

I'd like to touch base with him after many years.

Well, Short of the personal comments, The Opry is slowly sink'in !!!
Need more like Allen Jackson and others that do real honest contry. It's sounding more like MTV than country. Turn up the pedal steels with more camera time . . If it ain't real country it ought not to be featured !

Just another Saturday night. Roy was out of tune on Ghost riders, Patty Loveless was great as was Herb's namesake. Tommy Shane Steiner has talent. Sapphire Peterbuilt could and/or should have stayed home. I'm not a Chesney fan and detested his first song but the second one was country with lots of good steel. Did anyone notice Tommy's new guitar? He took delivery on his new Carter this week. I wish we could have heard and seen him on it tonight.

I thought the show had a little bit for everybody's taste. My favorite was Patty Loveless. You cant beat that tight harmony!
The only negative comment I have is, please let Katie do something else on Sat night!!

I loved Tommy Shane Steiner and his band. To bad the camera work didn't actually show Scott Sanders on steel until the very last and then the camera pulled away. Anyway,he sounded great!
Kenny's guy sounded good too!
For my taste, I would have loved Patty better with steel and doing only one bluegrass tune

Yep, I noticed Tommy's Carter!

I've been waiting for it. Freeze-framed my Video Tape and strained my eyes to catch the logo.

Who say the GOO isn't interesting!

Last week we saw Tommy walk by on stage.

Now if we can only hear him playing the Carter.

OOPS! Had to work and forgot to set VCR (yeah right, Richard...like you really know how

).

"What If She's an Angel" is my favorite song out on the radio right now. The lyrics are killer. To tell you the truth, the lyrics draw so much of my attention, I could not even tell you if there is a steel on the recording.

Patty is one of my all time faves. If it looks like she is getting older, it's probably cuz she is (aren't we all). She's still beautiful and a great singer.

You of all people should know the director calls the shots, not the camera people.
You said, "The camera pulled away". Your statement is incorrect.
The camera was there, the director cut away and apologized for doing so. He did not realize I could walk to the steel from the guitar.
I was there when I needed to be, the shots simply were not taken.
