I saw a singer by the name of Oakie Jones on the Ganaway films from the 1950s. He was introduced by "Little Jimmy Dickens". Jimmy said he is from Fort Worth, Texas.
Does anyone have any information about the singing career of Oakie Jones?
BTW, Walter Haynes was playing a Bigsby guitar on that show.

Boy, there's one I haven't heard of in 50 years! Oakie started out his career on the "Big D Jamboree" back in the late '40s. He got a recording contract with Columbia records, and did maybe half a dozen records before fading into oblivion in the late '50s. He was a very expressive, and had a deep "Texas-type" voice. I always thought that Dave Dudley sounded very similar to Oakie. I have no idea whatever became of him.
