Ernest Tubb Box Set Question

Post by P Gleespen »

I've got a quick question about one of the ET Bear Family Box sets.
I've got the last two ("Waltz Across Texas" and "Another Story"), and am thinking about picking up the 3rd one (called "The Yellow Rose of Texas").

Do any of you have that set? My main question about it is how much Emmons material is on it? I think the years are from '54 to '60.

Thanks!

Patrick

I'm thinking that Buddy Emmons joined the Troubadours either in 57 or 58 and left for good in 62. Ernie Renn or Kevin Owen would know for sure.

Many Thanks to Jason Odd for (as usual) coming through with the historical detail.

Buddy was a Troubadour twice. From late 1957-58 and from 1959-62. So he should be on some of the cuts in the box set.

This post reminded me that I had a pretty much complete listing of all of Tubb's studio sessions, so I sent Patrick a list of the Buddy E. era Troubadors... hence his thanks.

But, I have no idea about the Troubs own albums, I understand that the group cut a couple of their own albums and I'd be interested to know if they do exist and if someone could list any info on them, titles, label numbers, the actual bandmembers or indeed if I'm totally mistaken in regards to their existence?

Ahem, kind of embarrising, but I just found this tucked away, not not a copy of the LP, but this listing:

Texas Troubadors
Title : Songs Of The Open Range
Label : Promenade 2078
Country : US
Format : LP
Sound : mono
Released : 1958
