Dell Reeves Steeler And Guitar Player

Post by LARRY COLE »

Who was the steel player and guitar player for Dell Reeves around 1979? The best I can remember the steeler was tall older gentlemen. We opened for them in Lima Ohio. They had just returned from a tour in Europe. The steel inlay had come loose and was taped in place. The guitar player filled in for Elvis when James Burton couldn't make it. I got my first steel right about then. Thanks for you help.

I did a tour (with Dottsy) in 1979 that Del was on. His steel player was Big Jim Webb, a suspect that fits the description you gave.

Big Jim is an old friend of mine, from the "Sho-Bud on Broadway" days! He's always been Tall & Older!

Actually, I ran into BJW at Scotty's last year. Age and osteoporosis have taken their toll... he's down to about 6'7" and 285lbs. Image
