Valley Media files for Bankruptcy

Post by Janice Brooks »

From an independent label owner and posted in the No Depression group
----------------------------------------
I just heard that Valley Media Inc in the Deleware Court has filed for
bankruptcy under the protection of Chapter 11. Part of Valley is DNA which
is a distribution company, they are one of the bigger US indie distributors.
This goes on top of the Tower Records tragedy and this all may cause a lot
of troubles for several US Indie labels.

Believe it or not but Tower Records had TWELVE (!!!) months accounts with
most of the majors and often SIX (!!!!) and up with a lot of Indie labels
and distributors.

In my opinion this is very serious shit that hits the fan here. I hope that
I'm wrong and every Indie will survive this but I seriously doubt it. If not
then this is very sad news to me

I am very happy to know that we (Munich Records) got away in time from the
upperlips of both big Bears.

Some of the CDs in the Forum catalog come from Valley Media. Image
