Jim & Jesse CD - 'Our Kind of Country'

Post by Steve Feldman »

Stumbled onto this new release yesterday and I'd have to say that it's really a 'must have' for steel guitar and country music fans. From the liner notes:
...[This CD represents] the hard core traditional honky-tonk country music that was popular by numerous artists in the 1950's and 1960's.
...harkening back to the days when the 4/4 shuffle beat dominated country music.
Of the 12 cuts, 8 are mostly uptempo shuffles and 2 are in waltz time. Jeff Newman does the steel honors and he's all over it right out of the gate with some really tasteful playing. It's nice to hear some of Jeff's playing on record. Wonderful band - especially Buddy Griffin on fiddle - and the lead/harmony vocals by Jim & Jesse are teriffic.

I expect that this will be getting a lot of 'air time' at home and in my truck for the next good while. A fine CD that I recommend highly. You won't be disappointed.

There have been several threads on this CD. If you like the Mooney style, and the sounds of the early '60s, this CD is a "must have" for steelplayers. This is G.O.T.H.T.M. (good old-time honky-tonk music).

Sorry, I must have missed them all, Donny. Just passing along what I thought was useful info.

I understand that since this CD went out, Jim and Jesse's bookings have tripled or more..and insider's thought is that more CD's like this will shortly be in the works...they are even getting air play..this plus George Jones, Ray Price, etc; can you beleive that?? Most importantly stations are starting to play it!! We just might be on the cutting edge!!
