When Scanning Your Radio,Can You Tell If It's "Country" Or N

Post by Ray Jenkins »

How can you tell the difference beteween "Rock and Roll" and a "Country Station",with the music thats played today?
Just scan the dial and see if you can.

I sure can.

If they made rock/n/roll like today's country, I'd probably listen to it. Image

Ray,

I have to wait & see if there's a fiddle solo to tell whether the station is playing a modern country song or an 80's rock song.

Don`t know about anyone else out there but here in B.C. on Vancouver Island we have "Galaxy Classic Country Music" via the magic of satelite with todays country right on the next channel down.
I`m "wowed" by all the great stuff that`s on there for 24 hours with NO commercial breaks at all. This is heaven - y` all.

Bob Mainwaring. Z.Bs and other weird things.

The main reason you can't tell the difference between a country and rock station anymore is that they're both continually playing commercials. Image

Mark's dial scanning technique:

First, and this is critical, know EXACTLY where the "country" stations are on the dial. Second, when scanning the dial and getting close to a "country" station, turn the volume down COMPLETELY. After you are safely past the "country" station, it is safe for you to turn the volume back up and you can resume your search for real music. Give it a try.

For me, conventional radio (particularly FM) is pretty much a thing of the past. I listen every so often to see if anything has changed, and when I see that it hasn't, I go back to the internet for my music..plenty of choices there. Bob, you have a good deal going with that dish, too Image

The first thing I used to do after cranking up the car ,was to cut the radio on.
Either Conway,or Jones,or Lorreta,or Haggard would be singing.
But the fomat has moved on with the likes of Hill,Twain,Mcintare,Insnyce,Ice,Rascal Flat, and what ever.
So untill the day they no longer make remakes tapes and CD's of Conway,Jones,Lorreta,Haggard, and did I forget to mention Buck Owen's,I'm satifided to live in my on world..
There are others I could metion ,but you get the idear.
I play in a band,And I am forced to play SOME of what the new age liston to,and I consider it part of the job.But when I'm not practiceing with the band, or playing at the club,I get in my on world.I play my tapes or CD's and I am able to bypass all the comercial's and the new age noise Image Image

I keep the radio in my Ranger on "Kudzu 102" 102.3 FM here in North MS. It's one of those rare stations that plays about 95% "classic" country and the other 5% is a bit more modern. Overall, a great mix.

However, if you venture off from that, you'd better drop over to AM if you want to hear any "country" music.

There's no shortage of traditional country music around this part of Texas. We had plenty around Corpus Christi also. Is this Texas or Heaven? Then again, how can you tell the difference? Image Image Image
