David Ball rides again!

David Ball's new CD should be out shortly (maybe it's already out). I picked up my pre-release copy at his fan club party this year.

According to his manager, the single "Riding With Private Malone" is getting some airplay there around Nashville. Has anybody heard it yet?

I like the song alot.

The other song that's apparently being kicked around for the next single is "Loser Friendly". This is "classic" Davd Ball material. (It's a play on the words "user friendly").

I saw David on the Opry no too long ago and he didn't look like or sound like the "old" David Ball. Sounded like the new Nashville stuff.

"Wherever you go, we go Amigo" is a great song, a man singing about his best friend.....HIS GUITAR!

Sorry, but I didn't hear that from his manager. She's Rob Crosby's manager, and she runs David Ball's fan club (along with about a dozen more fan clubs).

I didn't see him on the Opry, so I'm not sure what he sang. I thought he did "Amigo", though.

It's getting a lot of push (Pvt. Malone) here in the mid-Atlantic area. The first time I heard the song, I thought it reminded me of something the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band might do.

I really like songs that tell a story, and they are quite popular right now. "Angels in Waiting" is another good example.

I saw Tammy Cochrane recently, and she said she was surprised at the success of "Angels in Waiting". I believe she said she wrote the song about her brothers.

I like story songs, too, and songs that come from the heart (like that one) tend to do quite well. I told her to remember that -- the best songs come from the heart. They reach out and touch people.

I bought my first David Ball album "Play" about 2 years ago and really like it. I bought my second one, "Starlight Lounge", a couple of months back at a used record store for $1.50 and like it a lot also.

I hope that he doesn't go too "new" country. I like his stuff just the way it is. I'm glad to see he's still around, as I believe that I read on the Forum a while back that he was without a record contract.

I personally like his version of "What do you say to that?" better than George Straits'. Even though they're almost identical, I have a tough time with George's for some reason after hearing David's first.

His new album is on Track Records, and produced by Wood Newton.
