I found the female equivalent to George Jones
And it's not a Country singer. I have this Celtic CD with a song called Storm In My Heart. It's sung by Delores Keane. Great song and production, and the singing really reminds me of George during his Sherrill days. It even comes with a background group sounding like the Jordonaires. Check it out if you can.

Never heard of her before, but a quick search found some online clips, including "Storm In My Heart" at:

(that URL is too long - the part that wrapped to another line doesn't seem to be "clickable", so you'll have to cut and paste it into your browser.)
(OK, I tried it, and it works fine - go ahead and click it

She's good. They don't all sound like the 'possum.
