Murder On Music Row wins big

Post by bob drawbaugh »

Did any one see the TNN/CMT/Country weekly country music awards last night. This is award show were the fans get to vote. Murder on music row won three wawrds, single of the year, song of the year, and event of the year. By the time it was over I was in the floor rolling. All the competition had very long faces before it was over too. Also Jackson cleaned up, it was a good night for country music and steel guitar. Nashville are you watching. people still like traditional country music.

I just happened to catch Alan Jackson singing "Where I Come From". Then I went to bed because I figured it couldn't get any better than that -- actually it was just getting too late.

Funny how it goes when the fans, not the insiders pick the winners, eh?

Do you think anyone but us "tradionalists" noticed?

Actually, the show was fairly decent. Glad that Alan, and George & Alan cleaned up. Murder is almost an anthem to me.

Man, am I fortunate to have a great lead singer, who loves the George Jones/George Strait, Merle, Vern, songs...probably his favorites are Murder on Music Row, Don't Rock the Jukebox, Farewell Party, When Did you Stop Loving Me, etc. - keeps a steel picker on his toes and working; and his brother, a great singer as well, almost breaks into tears watching the steel on the slow ones (I hope from joy - not from pain), then does leads and back ups second to none, I think I have found a home....steal playing does pay, if not in money, then definitely in satisfaction...whew, forgot what started this reply! Hope you guys have it, or will have it, just as good as I do...

Could this be the turning point, that most of us thought would never come?

"tradionalists" or "traditionalists"?

Oh well, I've never had any respect for a person that couldn't spell a given word three or four ways anyway.

I sure wish I could have caught that show.I have gotten so use to not even careing about the awards of any kind,or listoning to the radio for fear of haveing to see some modern country RAP,and people in the background swaying and trying to jump or do the split.Thank good'ness the band I am playing in now,has it's heart grounded and rooted in pure unadultriated country music. As for the youth in country ,I still see some hope in recording artist like Brad Paisley,Darle Singletary,Gary Allen

I'm with you Bowie. We've got a guy that seems to know every Gene Watson and Ray Price song ever done.

I think he picks some of them just to get to hear the steel on the turn, (Touch My Heart, Farewell Party, Way To Survive, etc.), and man I appreciate the chance to caress that Emmons, (guitar...just in case Bobbe or Mike W. or Buddy are reading this).
