We are going to be spending several days in Myrtle Beach the last week of April. Any suggestions on where to go here good steel playing? I know that they have a few Branson-type shows.

Here's a link that features all the big theaters...

You're guaranteed some steel at the "Carolina Opry", but not many other places. The "Beach Wagon" may carry a steel. When I was down there last, there was one on the stage, but the player wasn't evident. They feature a lot of country-dance music (huge club!). Even though you won't find a steel, I recommend the "Gatlin Brothers" theater...few people can sing as good as Larry! Most of the clubs (there's a ton of 'em) I've checked out don't have country music, much less a steel guitar.

Maybe some local will chime in and give you a better outlook.

The Carolina Opry you will enjoy. There is a young lady that plays steel there, but I forgot her name. We built her Emmons S-10, 3&5, Caymen Green steel about two years ago. When I built my Emmons, I offset my A,B,C pedals over to the right, (one pedal space)just like hers. I had to tune her steel & adjust the pedals before we shipped it to her, and because her pedals were offset to the right one space, it made my left foot much more comfortable. She and her husband came to Emmons to make the order, and that day, she sat down to one we had on the showroom floor, and TORE IT UP!!! She has a very COOL way of pick-blocking. So, stop by at the Carolina Opry, and tell her I said Hi for me.
ENJOY!
