Godin/Seagull Guitars

Anybody have any experience with these guitars?

I've heard some good things about their Acoustic/Electrics.

Lee, I presently own a Seagull acoustic
12-string and find it to be quite a very
responsive guitar. It has presence and is not overly boomy. I think it is one of their
top line models....it has black laminate
as the facing on the headstock, and twelve
chrome mini schaller-style tuning keys.
It sounds really great, and the price is the
best secret of Seagulls. About 5/6 years ago it cost around $250-$300 with a Martin/Gibson/Guild-style hardshell case.

Believe they were, and still are, made in Canada. I plan real soon to have a Fishman
saddle pickup installed. If you have a chance to play/buy one, by all means, do so.

I've had one of the Godin "Acousticasters" for about 7 years. They are very well made instruments with a very good "acoustic" sound if you eq them right. They are about the size and shape of a Telecaster (even have maple finger boards) but have a large hollow area inside with metal tynes that sympathetically vibrate with the strings to reinforce the vibration of the top. Great for on-stage playing in loud situations without feedback problems.

I've seen their midi-controllers demonstrated by Tom Bresh (Meryl Travis' son) at the Frankfurt Music Messe (European NAMM show) and was mightilly blown away.

I've also tried a few of the Seagull guitars and was very impressed for the price. The Boggs saddle pickups (also used on the Acousticasters) is great.

I tried them and I didn't think they were even in the same league as Fender telecasters and Taylor accoustics. Of course they might not cost as much either.

It's interesting you compared them to Taylors. The person who told me about them compared them (Seagulls) favorably to Taylors!

So far the smaller-bodied Taylors have blown away any mass-produced acoustics I've heard. I'm looking for a high-end, small-bodied (smaller then a dreadnaught) acoustic. I'd like to stay under 2,000.

Any other ideas?
