Musical instrument trivia...

I just read that the ONLY non-electric instrument invented in the 20th century was "steel drums". But wasn't the DOBRO invented in the 20th century as well?

I think the Dobro was invented in the 20th century - 20's or 30's. Only explanation I can think of is that maybe whomever it is who made that observation considers the Dobro as a variation of the 6-string guitar. Come to think of it, where do you really draw the line? The regular 6-string was first, of course. Then came the Hawaiian lap guitars, then the resonator guitars, then the Dobro. Maybe the Dobro is considered a natural evolutionary species of the regular 6-string guitar.

On the other hand, by the same token, a steel drum could be considered to evolve from the regular drum.

Hmmmm, who knows? Maybe they just forgot about the Dobro.

...let's not forget that ubiquitous percussion instrument of the 20th Century cityscape, the 5-gallon spackle bucket...
