This might be covered before but I got this one lately and together with "Bakersfield bound" it is my favourite CD at this moment.
It's called "seven decades" on HighTone Records featuring the late great Gary Hogue and Thom Bresh (son of Merle Travis).
Living in Germany chances are low to see Hank perform live, after listening to this CD I really can say that he is one of my all-time favourites.

Hank's newest CD has not got the attention it deserves, and yes Gary Hogue is awesome on this CD. Hank does not have e-mail but you can contact him through his fan club via snail mail. That is H.T. International Fan Club. P.O.Box 1035, Roanoke,Texas 76262.
This past fall I had the opportunity to work backstage again with Hank and between shows we sat down and talked quite a bit about his Seven Decades CD. Hank had very high praises for Gary Hogue. He said that Gary was a member of his band when he still had a traveling and, but he never used Gary on any recording sessions until the Seven Decades sessions.
Hank also said that when he chose some of the standards to be recorded during the sessions he actually brought in a stack of 78rpms to a meeting with Lloyd Maines and Thom Bresch and told them what sound he was looking for. He wanted them to listen to the 78s to get the feel.
Hank is a great guy to sit down with and talk music history.
you bet, I saw Hank at a casino gig last year - visited with him a bit after the show, had my pic taken with him as he signed some old album covers that I've had for years - great fella.
Connectedness to the old hands, man, that's what makes it all special - saw Hank & his boys for the first time with my Grandpa when I was 9-yrs old at the 1974 Frontier County Fair in Stockville, Nebraska - saw ET the same summer at the fair in McCook.... good old days to be a kid or what?!?!?!
