They're a band from Monteal/Canada and released their third CD called "lift yr. skinny fists like antennas to heaven!" on kranky.
Folks, this is great stuff. It's a instrumental double CD with lots of droning strings, guitar and drums, very emotional yet not esoteric. Reminds me of 4AD bands like Dead can Dance's 1. album, the "Dutch Harbour"-Soundtrack and some recordings by the Rachel's. If you're into this kind of Chicago-rock you should check them out.
No steel, though.
