Hal Ketchum
I've been hearing "Small Town Saturday Night" on our local KRTY www.krty.com station a fair amount recently but couldn't catch the name of the artist. That's a great country song which reminds me of the rural life around the town where I grew up. I hunted online for the song title and found Hal Ketchum. Bought his CD "Past the Point of Rescue" and was very pleased with all of the album. Good voice, good material, and Bruce Bouton on steel. Nice discovery.

Well Mike Crowley was Hal's manager from the start and is our(Dale Watson) manager and I asked Mike about Hal.
Mike isn't managing Hal since about 2 years now; because yes Hal has gone through some life changes and dropped out for a time. I have'nt heard of any return and don't see it happening in any real large scale like he was.

I love his early stuff... the "Past the Point of Rescue" and "Sure Love" CDs are fantastic.
After that, he seemed to start believing his own PR about being a sex symbol. He had some "hit" that was a syrupy smarmy ballad kind of thing (think Vince Gill in his worst moments). He also started shaking his ass a lot more when he did TV spots. Hal lost me after that. Like the world needs another Bobby Vinton.
