My Maria", again
I know this song and 'Send a Letter to Maria'
has been a topic here before, but does anyone
know who the author of 'My Maria' is?
I tried 'search', but the 9 files that came up didn't offer a clue.
Was playing with an old guitar buddy tonight
and he really likes the song, and he was wondering who wrote it, and aked me if I knew.
Thanks All...

Chip, according to the Brooks and Dunn website I looked at, it lists Daniel Moore and B.W. Stevenson as the writers.
Hope this helps.

It was recorded and was a "hit" for BW in 1973. I was in BW's band at the time and was on the album.
Funny thing, BW had previously recorded a Danny Moore song called "Shambala," and RCA was really jazzed on it. But the BW version was shadowed by the Three Dog Night cover of "Shambala" which became the radio hit.
So BW got together with Danny, and they came up with "My Maria." It was the hit they sought although not quite as monstrous as they were hoping for.
BW's real name, incidentally, was Louis Charles Stevenson. His nickname around the Dallas folk music clubs was "Buckwheat." Professionally it got shortened to "BW," but all his buddies called him "Buck."
