I've been considering picking up the ET and the Texas Troubadours "Waltz Across Texas" Box set from Bear Family.
Do any of you out there have this set?
Is it worth it (obviously subjective)?
It's just about impossible to find this stuff on vinyl these days (although I did just find "My Pick of the Hits" at a little punk rock record store here in Boston. What a find!)

I have the "Waltz Across Texas" and "Another Story" box sets. These span the recordings of ET from 1960 to 1974 or there abouts. These are treasures if you are are an ET fan or a fan of true country music. They start out with Buddy Emmons and cover Buddy Charleton's entire career with the Texas Troubadours. I would go into withdrawls without mine.

My dad has all the boxed sets and I have listened to them. For us it was nice to hear a lot more of the cuts in stereo since he originally bought some of them in mono. Where elso can you hear Buddy Emmons play lead guitar? Bobby Garrett and Pete Drake also played on some of the cuts. Many of dad's 78's are cracking but they are all coverered by Bear as well as some previously unreleased cuts. It is amazing to me that all of the music sounds like the original vinyl versions. There's no added reverb, echo, no boxy or peaked sounding EQ or compression. Even some of the scratch sounds on the original 78's were left rather than filter them out at the expense of sound clarity. All of the sets were bought from County Records (Sales?) on sale at about 1/3 off list.
