Sol Hoopii Photos Wanted

Post by Bob Stone »

I'm looking for studio/promo photos of Sol Hoopii to include in the Arhoolie Foundation's Sacred Steel documentary video to help establish the Hawaiian connection via Troman and Willie Eason. Photos should be clear and crisp, 8" x 10" preferred. Please email me to discuss arrangements for loan or purchase.

I am making a similar post on the Hawaiian Steel Guitar web site.

Mahalo and aloha,

Bob Stone

PS--the video is scheduled for release in the spring of 2000.
[This message was edited by Bob Stone on 12-08-99]

Two people you should contact are Bob Brozman and Bud Tutmarc. Either one should be able to hook you up with a good photo.

Brad,

I have already contacted Bud Tutmarc and he is sending me some candid shots. Was he the source of the promo photo you used on your Page of Steel?

Who else did you mean to refer me to? Only Bud's name came up on your post?

Thanks a million,

Bob

Bob,
I noticed on one of his albums that I have ,is a pretty good portrait of a fairly young Sol.
If this would do you any good would be glad to try and scan it to you.

Joe--

Thanks for your reply. Our footage was professionally shot using a Sony Betacam, so the video is very high fidelity. To get the best stills, I'm looking for original photos , or really good copies, to scan with our high resolution scanner. If original photos can't be found--I have hopes Brozman will come through--we might have to use an image from an album cover, but hopefully not. Being the Hawaiian fan that I am, I have the Hoopii albums.

Thanks again. And thanks to b0b for hosting this Forum. It's mighty handy.
