5 Minute tips for Hawaiian Steel Guitar #5
Some folks have been asking me to do a few videos on Hawaiian steel guitar, so I thought I'd maybe try and blast a quick 5 minute one out each week for a while and see if it's of any interest. It's hard to get a point across in 5 minutes, but I'll give it a whirl for a while each Tuesday.
Here's the fifth one. This one is about finding your way around some double stops, a hula pick and some alternate picking all jammed into a zany tune from the 20's by King Bennie Nawahi called "Honolulu Bound". It's great fun to play and once you wrap your head around this section, it's not terribly difficult to pull off.
I'm using open G tuning for this (DGDGBD Low to High) but this would also apply to the high-bass tuning, or Dobro tuning (GBDGBD). Enjoy!

Steve's lessons are a fantastic resource for those of us who love the pre-war Hawaiian style. His lessons also have the potential to introduce others to the steel guitar. If you have a moment, please support Steve by giving this lesson a viewing and a thumbs-up. Also, maybe consider leaving a comment and/or subscribing to his channel. Thanks!
