Phil Baugh's phaser pedal - Live Blue Jade - Buddy Emmons album

Post by Brad Sarno »

Phil Baugh's guitar solo on the live Buddy Emmons album (vinyl only, Blue Jade was cut for CD) is gorgeous. Phil has a strong, slow phaser effect on his guitar. Does anyone know what phaser Phil was using on that?

Thanks,
Brad

If no one knows for sure, I'd guess he used whatever Buddy was using around that time? MXR Phase 90?

I was thinking that. Only a few choices back then.

Thx

I have read that Jerry Reed used the MXR phase 90 around that time. Very popular unit.

That was partly my thought. Interesting too that the Peavey amps of the time that has phasers built in were using the EH Small Stone phaser circuit. I recall seeing a Peavey circuit board and on the board there was a "licensed by Electro Harmonix". It's been years since I saw that.

I completely forgot about the Session 500 with those Brad. There are some videos on YT of Phil and Buddy playing together. Perhaps there's a shot of his amp and effects.

I think it was the Session 500 phase shifter. For a time he even mounted the clip-on switch on his guitar
My best,
