Does this give you access to plug-ins?
I have the free version that came with my DAC but there don't seem to be any effects/amp versions available except an equalizer/ compressor. Tone is awful without running everything through my own amp and pedals chain. If there's a lot of effects available, are they good enough?
$130 is pretty reasonable.
Less equipment, more practice.

Thornton,

I would expect it does come with a large selection of effects plugins. You can look it up on their website. The free version you have likely has a large amount of plugins included, but you have to go to the Presonus website to download them. They are called "content". When you register and login, you will see the "my products" page and you can download things from there. I find the stock plugins to be plenty good enough for my use. I have bought a lot of third party plugins, looking for something that sounded fantastic, only to be disappointed. I do like the Ozone mastering software because it's an all in one solution with a lot of presets to choose from.

Hey thanks a lot. I will check it out.
I thought this DAC/DAW thing would be straightforward. Now I'm watching videos instead of practicing. Hopefully the steep part of the curve will be behind me in a week or two.

You sound like me about 12 years ago ... "all I seem to be doing is watching YouTube videos on recording and NOT practicing". Welcome and know you're NOT alone.

Depending on how deep you want to go as far as plugins and mixing and all that. Actually recording and getting sound into you DAW is pretty straightforward. Yet with anything new and if like me, without reference it can seem a bit daunting. The terminology alone always had me stuck, yet YouTube is your friend. Once you've done it, it gets easier and you become familiar with it.
