I’m having an issue with tuning the 6th string G on a G2. Depending on how I get to the note, the tuning is different.

When lowering to F# and then pressing the B pedal, the G note is flat.

Pressing the B pedal and then lowering the string is in tune.

Any ideas?

hmm....Is your G# to F# initial lower tuned true with the split screw?

Before troubleshooting try tuning the split this way if you haven't already

Tune 6th string to pitch. Tune the G note with the B pedal down and use the nylon tuning to get the note to G.

Let off the B pedal and tune the F# with the split screw at the changer.

I've noticed I have the same issue on the same guitar. It is subtle-not worth getting worried about. I have not tried to mess with it.

The most common of splits-I am curious if others find that this happens on this or other guitars, and what might cause it.

I suspect it might be that the lower finger spring needs a little tightening as the tension dynamics are changing with a reduced string tension when lowered.
Make sure to note where the current spring is set so you can retrace back to the original if needed.
I’m only guessing so maybe check to see whether the lower finger is lifting off it’s backstop when the raise is added

Yes guys I have the split tuned as it should be with the lower nylon nut tuning the split and the screw for the F#. I have tried adjusting the tightness of the return spring but it hasn't changed anything. Could it be the helper spring? This is the first all-pull guitar I've played with the helper springs. The G split is rock solid on my Legrande. Are there any other features the G2 has that could cause this?

I dunno if it matters, but when tuning splits with screws my procedure is to back off the split screw to allow plenty of lower change even past the desired note.

I tune the lowest lower first with the nylon just a hair flat of the desired note.

Once that's done, assuming the open note and pedaled raised notes are in tune, then I tune the split note with the nylon tuner.
Then I go back and tune the final lowered note by adjusting the split screw.

It is my opinion and experience that there must be completely adequate travel for the longest change at the split screw before tuning the split note with the lower nylon.

Mickey Adams has a video on split tuning. Somewhere on U tube. I think he was working with Mullen when he made it. A friend was having trouble with Mullen guitar, He said Mickey's video was a great help.
